Conflict is a natural occurrence and challenge in healthcare settings, with not all health professionals responding appropriately when issues arise (Johnson, 2015). Research suggests that effective conflict-management triggers personal growth for clinicians (Al-Hamdan, Shukri, & Anthony, 2011), improves their interpersonal relationships (Pines et al., 2012), and enhances the quality of care delivered (Forbat, Simons, Sayer, Davies & Barclay, 2016). To foster adequate conflict-resolution, clinicians should maintain positive relationships with others (Almost at al., 2016) to resolve misunderstandings and avoid issues escalating (Forbat et al., 2016). I will express active listening skills, avoid judging clients and be accepting of all ideas to minimize negative conflict within my care.
